ArianeGroup CEO to step down

Andre-Hubert Roussel will step down as CEO of ArianeGroup- a French aerospace joint venture between Airbus and Safran - French newspaper La Tribune reported on the 30th of March. ArianeGroup lost nearly a quarter of its turnover in 2022, this is largely due to the Russian-Ukrainian war and delays in Ariane 6 - which could be postponed until the first half of 2024.

NICFI prolongs public access to satellite images

During his visit to Brazil, Norway’s Minister of Climate and Environment, Mr. Espen Barth Eide announced that NICFI’s Satellite Data Program is extended until September 2024. After 2.5 years of the program, it has become evident that public access to high resolution satellite images leads to more effective rainforest protection, Eide said.

Boeing and Airbus Dominate Global Aerospace & Defense Industry

According to Brand Finance's annual valuation, Boeing (brand value up 13% to US$17.5 billion) has remained the most valuable aerospace and defense brand in 2023. This is as demand for commercial aircraft increased following a return to global travel, post-Covid-19, has sustained Boeing’s brand value growth, which is 4% higher than its main competitor Airbus (brand value up 9% to US$14.4 billion). However, Boeing’s brand value remains 23% lower than its pre-pandemic value.

Airbus Wins Angola Contract for Earth Observation satellite

Airbus Defense and Space has announced an agreement for Angeo-1, the first very high-performance Angolan Earth observation satellite, which it will develop in France. Furthermore, the agreement will strengthen the collaboration between the two countries. As part of the partnership, Airbus will offer a comprehensive training program for Angolan engineers to build domestic competencies through targeted knowledge transfer.
