Ariane 6 Upper Part Moves to Launch Pad for First Flight

The European Space Agency (ESA) has transferred Ariane 6's upper composite with the payloads that it will launch to Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana. The upper part of the rocket was moved from the encapsulation hall in Europe's Spaceport to the launch pad in the morning, and placed on top of the rocket. The rocket's fairing includes hardware from experiments, deployers, satellites and reentry capsules.

SOMA Package on Space Biology is Now Publicly Available

The Space Omics and Medical Atlas (SOMA) package of manuscripts, data, protocols, and code has been publicly released. The package represents the largest-ever compendium of data for aerospace medicine and space biology with more than 100 institutions from over 25 countries working together for a coordinated 2024 release of molecular, cellular, physiological, phenotypic, and spaceflight data.

Orbex Receives Funding for Green Propulsion Excellence Center

Space rocket manufacturer Orbex, with design and production facilities in Hvidovre, has received an investment of DKK 23.7 million (3.4 million USD) from Innovation Fund Denmark. The Company will consequently leverage the funding to establish a 'Green Propulsion Excellence Center' at the site in the Copenhagen suburb, where Orbex will design, produce and test green propulsion systems for Orbex's Prime rocket, which will send satellites into orbit around the Earth.

Zero Debris Charter Gains More Signatories at ILA Berlin

More than 40 companies, research centers and international organizations have signed the Zero Debris Charter at the Berlin International Airshow (ILA), confirming their dedication to the long-term sustainability of human activities in space. The Zero Debris Charter, which ESA unveiled at the ESA Space Summit in Seville in November 2023, is an initiative aiming for future missions to become debris-neutral in space by 2030.

Ariane 6 Rocket Targets July 9 for Inaugural Launch

The Ariane 6 Task Force, including ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher, ArianeGroup CEO Martin Sion, CNES CEO Philippe Baptiste and Arianespace CEO Stéphane Israël have announced that it is targeting July 9 for the inaugural launch of the Ariane 6 rocket. The Task Force made the announcement at the ILA Berlin Air Show in Germany. Walther Pelzer, Director General of the German Space Agency at DLR, was also present at the announcement.
