After the landslide adoption of the position on the Secure Connectivity Program in the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE), the Rapporteur Grudler (Renew) and Shadow Rapporteurs Salini (EPP), Hristov (S&D), Nienab (Greens/EFA) and Tosenovsky (ECR) are now ready for a swift negotiation regarding this new Program.

Europe’s first representative New Space platform, YEESS (Young European Enterprises Syndicate for Space) has welcomed three new members: Unseenlabs, Exolaunch, and U-Space, the syndicate stated.

The European Space Agency (ESA) and satellite operator SES, signed a contract with support from the European Commission for the development of Eagle-1, Europe’s first space-based quantum key distribution satellite system, the companies announced at a press conference at the International Astronautical Congress 2022 in Paris last week. 

Satellite manufacturer Reflex Aerospace, and space-tech company HPS (High Performance Space Structure Systems), signed a letter of intent to prevent space debris, the companies announced. According to the agreement, Reflex will remove all its satellites from orbit at the end of their operational life.

ESA and the European Commission announced the end of the mission for the Copernicus Sentinel-1B satellite, which experienced an anomaly related to the instrument electronics power supply provided by the satellite platform, leaving it unable to deliver radar data since December last year.

ArianeGroup will be leading the SALTO and ENLIGHTEN projects entrusted by the European Commission to speed up the development of reusable, eco-friendly European launchers, as part of the Horizon Europe program. The two-year reuSable strAtegic space Launcher Technologies & Operations (SALTO) project aims to test a reusable launcher’s vertical landing.
