NorthStar Earth & Space ("NorthStar") has announced that it has fully validated its unique end-to-end Concept of Operations (CONOPS) using its dedicated space-based imagery system. In addition, NorthStar received a US patent for this CONOPS and has filed for two additional patents related to advanced simulation and data analytics involving image preprocessing, calibration, detection & measurements of orbits.

Officina Stellare S.p.A has won a new contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) to supply a complete optical ground station, for lasercom applications. The contract is for 24 months and a total value of approximately €3.5 million, of which, approximately €2.4 million pertains to the OS Group. The project will see two development phases: the first relating to the design and development of the subsystems, the second to the prototyping and validation of the OGS, worth €1.5 million and €2 million respectively.

Space-related technologies should be clean and sustainable to ensure access to space will remain possible for future generations. This topic, which is currently a top priority of space policy, has led to several technical solutions which are now available on the market, with the ADEO deorbit system from HPS leading the way. With recognition even from NASA, the ADEO dragsails ensure already before launch that satellites will not turn into space debris at the „end-of-business“. Instead, they re-enter the Earth’s atmosphere. 

The Greek Ministry of Digital Governance has announced an investment into four thermal satellites and a wildfire system with the thermal intelligence provider OroraTech. Together with a consortium of Greek subcontractors, OroraTech will deliver a system for wildfire management, including ground systems and processing services, as well as a constellation of thermal imaging satellites dedicated to monitoring the entire country of Greece for wildfires.

The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation and Black Cape have announced a new multi-year scholarship; the Black Cape Scholarship for Women in Geospatial Intelligence. Each summer the scholarship will go to one female student studying geospatial, geography, geospatial technology, or a related field at the undergraduate level with the intent to work for the U.S. Government.

The Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) has announced its partnership with the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at the University of Colorado, Boulder, USA, designating the LASP Small/CubeSat group as a "COSPAR Center of Excellence for Capacity Building in CubeSat Technologies". Part of COSPAR’s mission is to promote the exchange of scientific results at international level and encourage meaningful roles for young scientists in space research.
