As we approach the 40th Space Symposium, it offers a moment for reflection on how the annual event has captured all that has happened with space over the past four decades but more importantly it’s an opportunity to look ahead at the future and what’s next. Which makes assembling an agenda that satisfies those demands a significant challenge — but also an incredible opportunity.

What sets Space Symposium apart from other space conferences is its ability to adapt and evolve. Unlike other assemblies that focus on a singular topic, Space Symposium prioritizes flexibility. This year’s agenda reflects the latest trends in space with dedicated tracks and panels addressing topics such as AI, space science, military strategy, market growth, and international policy. We recognize that the space sector is incredibly diverse and constantly changing, which is why we work closely with our partners and attendees to ensure the Symposium agenda addresses the issues that matter most.

Throughout the year, Space Foundation gathers inputs to curate a program that facilitates meaningful conversations but also opportunities for creating partnerships, doing business, and creating better understanding of the issues of the day — and the years ahead. By leveraging Space Foundation’s relationships with industry leaders, domestic and international space agencies, foreign embassies, and other national and global organizations, we bring diverse voices and perspectives together so that every Symposium attendee can better understand and be part of the key trends and conversations that are shaping space.

In this rapidly evolving and interconnected world, Space Symposium has become a central hub for fostering collaboration across borders, industries, and sectors. The discussions and partnerships that emerge from this global gathering have lasting impacts on the future of space exploration, space science, national security, commercial innovation, economic competitiveness, and international diplomacy.

Today, the international presence in space is growing, not only through civil space agencies but also through military leaders underscoring the importance of global communication and collaboration. It’s critical to recognize that space is not only a domain for exploration and commerce but also for national security. The inclusion of military leaders in the Space Symposium agenda enables crucial conversations about the strategic implications of space access, defense technologies, and international cooperation.

From its inception in 1984, Space Symposium has served as a gathering place for professionals from diverse backgrounds. From government agencies like NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) to commercial innovators and emerging space agencies from countries like Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, and South Korea. Today, space is a global environment where geopolitical and commercial interests intersect in profound ways.

“This isn’t just a celebration of where the space community has come; it’s a forward-looking conversation about where it’s going.”

This year’s agenda is unique for several reasons. With the new administration taking office, we expect significant discussions on the evolution of national defense and space policies. We’ve reserved space for key figures and ensured that panels represent distinct voices — commercial, military, civil and international — which all play critical roles in these areas. Additionally, we’re creating separate tracks to ensure military leaders, government officials, and commercial companies can engage with the most relevant stakeholders without competing for attention.

We are also elevating the voices of the next generation of space leaders. This year’s track for startups and young professionals highlights our commitment to fostering new talent. With the support of our partners, we’re launching an AI-focused track to showcase cutting-edge technologies reshaping space exploration, commerce and industry expansion.

Our partnership with the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) and the Fusion Forum ensures that young professionals and newcomers to the space sector have access to mentorship, networking, and exposure to real-world challenges in space science and policy. These emerging leaders represent the future of space exploration and economic competitiveness. At Space Symposium, we are dedicated to supporting their growth through hands-on mentorship and active participation in the week’s agenda.

While every part of the space community will look to employ these emerging talents, it is the commercial industry that will be counting on them the most. New to the Symposium agenda this year is the Supplier Showcase, where up and coming enterprises from across the space industry can share emerging trends and technologies. This offers attendees an invaluable opportunity to deepen their understanding of the innovations that will shape the future of space commerce, exploration, and security.

In the past, these exhibitors may not have had the budget or resources to display their innovations in previous years, but they’ll now have the opportunity to present their technologies to a broader and global audience. This aligns with our ongoing commitment to providing a platform for smaller companies in an ever-expanding ecosystem.

The 40th Space Symposium is special this year as we are intentionally bringing together voices and perspectives to tackle the most pressing issues in the space sector. This isn’t just a celebration of where the space community has come; it’s a forward-looking conversation about where it’s going. By fostering international collaboration, military partnerships, and commercial innovation, Space Symposium continues to be an essential event for anyone interested in the future of space.
