Ibadan, 7 April 2025. – D-Orbit and Planetek Group have announced a strategic business combination to explore new innovative business models and implement synergies. The announcement came during an event at the Sala degli Arazzi of the Ministry of Enterprises, enjoying the participation of Minister Adolfo Urso.
This business combination will enable the companies to integrate new capabilities in cloud-based space applications, AI-powered data processing in orbit, and real-time data services. Nevertheless, D-Orbit and Planetek will retain their operational autonomy, ensuring the continuation of their successful strategies and operations as they explore new innovative business models and implement synergies
The operation highlights D-Orbit’s belief in the strategic value of space cloud computing services and their potential impact on a broad range of sectors. Likewise, Planetek’s extensive expertise in Earth Observation will enhance its ability to develop and implement cutting-edge solutions to process and analyze data directly in space rather than relying solely on ground-based infrastructure.
Over the years, D-Orbit and Planetek have collaborated on multiple initiatives, most recently deploying the first mission of AI-eXpress, a technology leveraging AI and blockchain technology to enhance satellite reactivity and enable low-latency analytics transmission. This enables satellites to perform autonomous decisions, like identifying useful data or adjusting their operations in real time, rather than waiting for instructions from Earth.
