Ibadan, 2 September 2026. – Global space logistics and orbital transportation provider D-Orbit has contracted GomSpace to supply power systems for its upcoming ION Satellite Carrier missions scheduled for 2026–2027. Valued at 6.3 million Danish krone (€842,700), the order marks another contract between the two companies, which have maintained a long-standing commercial relationship.

The ION Satellite Carrier is D-Orbit’s orbital transfer vehicle (OTV), designed to transport and deploy satellites and other payloads into their designated orbits after being delivered to an initial orbit by a primary launch vehicle. The agreement will therefore provide power systems for spacecraft supporting D-Orbit’s in-orbit transportation and deployment services.

D-Orbit will subsequently integrate GomSpace’s power systems into its ION spacecraft to provide electrical power for mission-critical operations during upcoming payload transportation and deployment missions, enabling the orbital logistics company to serve a diverse customer base.

“We are proud to continue supporting D-Orbit’s innovative ION Satellite carrier spacecrafts,” said Jens Ziesel, Head of Product Sales at GomSpace. “This agreement reflects the strength of our long-term relationship and our shared dedication to delivering reliable and high-performance space solutions.”

“GomSpace has been a reliable, industrial grade partner for the power systems for our missions,” added Gianmarco Sorrentino, Head of Procurement at D-Orbit. “We really value the professional relationship we have built over time.”

The contract builds on an established partnership between the two companies, with D-Orbit having sourced GomSpace power systems for its missions for almost a decade. Under the latest agreement, GomSpace’s systems will be integrated into D-Orbit’s ION spacecraft, supporting missions scheduled for 2026–2027, extending the companies’ collaboration across multiple spacecraft.

The repeat order also reinforces GomSpace’s strategy of leveraging long-term customer relationships and repeat power-system products deliveries across multiple spacecraft to scale its product business.
