Astra successfully deploys payloads into sun-synchronous orbit

Astra launched its Rocket 3.3 vehicle from Alaska on Kodiak Island, successfully placing several payloads into sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of 525 km. An attempt the previous day had to be cancelled due to bad weather conditions. The liftoff and ascent went as planned, however, there was no immediate confirmation of payload separation.

SpaceChain is opening an office in the UAE, in Abu Dhabi to mark its foray into the burgeoning space sector in the Middle East, the company said. The new office is located at Hub71, Abu Dhabi’s global tech ecosystem. Its aim is to focus on the planning and development of integrated space-blockchain projects in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

GMV signs contract for corrective maintenance of Paz satellite

Telecommunication satellite control supplier GMV, has signed a contract with INTA (Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial) for the corrective maintenance of the main elements of its ground segment, GMV said. It is also responsible for designing, developing, validating, and implementing the technology in the ground segment of INTA’s Paz satellite.

Roscosmos to bring US astronaut back to Earth as planned

Russia’s space agency, Roscosmos says it will return US astronaut Mark Vande Hei to Earth as scheduled, on board the Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft together with cosmonauts Anton Shkaplerov and Pyotr Dubrov on March 30th. Speculation to the contrary emerged earlier based on geopolitical tensions between Russia and the US after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Interstellar Lab announces a US $5 million seed round to accelerate BioPod manufacturing

Interstellar Lab announced a US $5 million seed round with Urania Ventures, Auxxo, 7percent Ventures, Seldor Capital, E2MC, Kima Ventures and BPI. The startup will be able to double its workforce by the end of 2022 with the help of the funding.  The company will accelerate manufacturing of the first BioPods this year, produced for the Earth market.
