ActInSpace Hackathon Concludes Global Rounds

The French National Space Agency CNES (Centre National d'Etude Spatiales), in collaboration with the European Space Agency and Aerospace Valley, organized the ActInSpace hackathon from 18 to 19 November 2022. The international spatial hackathon is dedicated to imagining products and services of tomorrow thanks to space applications, and it simultaneously held in 34 countries and 65 cities on five continents with 1,700 global participants.

ESA plans to demonstrate low Earth orbiting PNT satellites

The European Space Agency’s (ESA) Navigation Directorate is planning an in-orbit demonstration with new low Earth orbit (LEO) navigation satellites supplementing Europe’s 23 Galileo satellites. The LEO-PNT satellites will investigate a new multi-layer satellite navigation system-of-systems approach to deliver seamless Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT). ESA states that the technology could enable much more accurate, robust and available-to-all services.

ESA appoints three new directors: for commerce, Earth Observation and Navigation

Three new directors, two more women on board: the European Space Agency (ESA) has appointed Géraldine Naja, Simonetta Cheli, and Francisco-Javier Benedicto Ruiz as new directors at its helm, the agency said. Géraldine Naja has been appointed to the new position of Director of Commercialisation, Industry and Procurement (D/CIP), based at ESA Headquarters in Paris as of 1 November 2021.
