Urban Sky Completes Series A Funding Round

Urban Sky, a stratospheric technology and remote sensing company, has announced an over-subscribed $9.75 million Series A financing round. New Legacy Ventures, Lerer Hippeau and Lavrock Ventures co-led the round, with participation from Catapult Ventures, Union Labs VC, DA Ventures (a Denver Angels Affiliate), and TenOneTen Ventures. The company will use the funding to scale its commercial imaging operation, develop advanced stratospheric technology, and broaden its sensor portfolio.

Qatar Airways Selects Starlink for IFC Service

Qatar Airways has announced a collaboration with Starlink and will roll out a complimentary high-speed, low-latency internet connectivity experience onboard specific aircraft and routes as a result. Nkechi Egerton-Idehen has been appointed as the new CEO of the Nigerian Communications Satellite Company (NIGCOMSAT). This appointment comes amidst the Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu's significant reshuffle within the Country's Ministry of Communications, Innovations, and Digital Economy, NIGCOMSAT's parent ministry. As a result, Nkechi Egerton-Idehen will assume her new role immediately, succeeding Engineer Tukur Mohammed Lawal Funtua, who took over as NIGCOMSAT’s CEO in December 2022.
