Airbus Selects Tesat for Quad Microwave Power Modules

TESAT has signed a contract with Airbus to supply newly designed Quad Microwave Power Modules (Quad-MPM) for OneSat. This agreement follows from the European Space Agency (ESA) and TESAT's development program to improve the functionalities and design of MPMs. This consequently laid the foundation for the final design and qualification process for the Quad-MPM.

ESA IEC Announces Conclusion on Vega-C Zefiro40 Test

The Independent Enquiry Commission, set up by ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher, has concluded its findings on the test anomaly during the static firing test of the modified Zefiro40 engine. The Director General set up the Enquiry Commission to understand the cause of the test anomaly and propose recommendations. The ESA Inspector General, Giovanni Colangelo, chaired the Commission, which also comprised experts from CNES, ASI, ESA, Arianespace and academia.

Switzerland and Poland Secure the Podium in ERC Competition

Switzerland representatives place second and third at the 9th edition of the prestigious European Rover Challenge space robotics competition. After intense competition on the world’s largest artificial Marsyard, team AGH Space Systems from Poland emerged as the best robotic team, meeting the rigorous demands of the jury. In addition, participants underwent a certification process confirming their knowledge and skills for the first time in competition history.

Poland aims for the moon in next decade

Prof. Grzegorz Wrochna, President of the Polish Space Agency (POLSA) said Poland’s presence on the moon is a matter of ten years during the European Rover Challenge (ERC) to the Polish Press Agency (PAP). Wrochna said that work is underway to establish a Polish space mission. Several months ago the Polish Space Agency made a call for concepts for a National space mission. From the applications received the Moon featured heavily.

GMV Tests Robot for Maintenance of Structures in Earth’s Orbit

GMV, a multinational technology company, have successfully concluded ground validation tests for a space robot designed to assemble structures in Earth’s orbit as part of the European Space Agency’s (ESA) MIRROR project (Multi-arm Installation Robot for Readying ORUS and Reflectors). Furthermore, the MIRROR robot can assemble large structures in orbit using smaller modules that fit in the launch systems available today, paving the way for new applications such as orbital solar power stations, large-scale telescopes, antennas, and more.

Atheras Analytics to Improve Ka-band Link Outage Predictions

Atheras Analytics, a company notable for predicting and managing the effects of atmospheric/weather impairments on Ka-band and Q/V-band satellite links, announced its successful award of a co-funded ARTES development contract for its TEMPESTAS project. ESA’s Ariane 6 engine completes firing test

ESA’s new Ariane 6 launch vehicle, consisting of its upper and core stage, has been fuelled up and its core stage engine fired. The Vulcain 2.1 engine was ignited on the launch page, and fired for four seconds before switching off and its liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen fuels were drained to their separate underground tanks. These tests are the continuation of an earlier test on the 18th of July.
