James Webb Telescope to be launched on Ariane 5 in December

The European and the U.S. space agencies, ESA and NASA, have scheduled the launch of the giant James Webb Space Telescope on an Ariane 5 rocket for 18 December 2021, Arianespace said. Flight VA256 is scheduled for 18 December from the Guiana Space Center, Arianespace said. The launcher and launch services are part of ESA´s contribution to the Webb project.

Ariane 5 back to flight with launch of Eutelsat´s Quantum

Eutelsat Quantum, the first sophisticated telecommunication satellite was launched on board of an Ariane 5 on 30th July at 23:00 CEST from French Guiana Space Centre. The launch marks Arianespace’s 6th successful mission of the year. The commercial, fully flexible satellite can be repurposed completely during its time in space thanks to its configurable software-defined design.

Exolaunch, ESA, and OneWeb add new nanosatellites

Update from the launch front: 29 out of the 88 satellites that SpaceX launched in its Transponder-2 mission were sharing the ride through Exolaunch, another 3 are from the European Space Agency (ESA), Exolaunch and ESA said, while OneWeb launched 36 more satellite for its internet constellation on a Soyuz rocket commercialized by Arianespace from Vostochny in Siberia.

James Webb telescope on Ariane 5 in October/ November

The giant James Webb Space Telescope is on Arianespace’s launch manifest for the fourth quarter of this year, officials from the European launcher and the U.S. space agency said. The telescope could be shipped from the U.S. to French Guiana late August, Thomas Zurbuchen, NASA’s science mission director, said at a virtual press briefing and mission update.

Arianespace launched 36 OneWebs on Soyuz

Luxembourg, 26 April 2021. – Arianespace launched 36 OneWeb satellites on a Soyuz rocket, bringing the entire OneWeb constellation to 182 satellites, Arianespace said. Flight ST31 was the 56th Soyuz mission carried out by Arianespace and its Starsem affiliate; it was the 326thmission in the Arianespace family of launchers, bringing the total number of satellites launched by Arianespace to 868.
