Space4Impact, EPFL’s Space Center eSpace, E2MC Ventures, and Space Innovation joined forces to launch an online course on the New Space Economy. The program is available on edX as a free EPFLx course. Learners can watch more than 30 video lectures by space experts from various domains within startups, academia, the private sector, and public institutions in Switzerland.

Vyoma, a space startup aiming to make space safer, has partnered with Atos Germany to help improve the safety of satellites in orbit, Vyoma said. The firm will bring its innovative solution for tracking space objects while Atos will share its secure data management system. Due to this cooperation, satellite operators will have a more effective way of avoiding collisions and manoeuvring.

Airbus Defence and Space and its EGNOS V3 system has passed an initial service performance review successfully. The program is managed under a partnership agreement between the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Defence, Industry and Space, the European Union Agency for the Space Programme and ESA.

The year’s second Space Café Scotland by Angela Mathis - Building a Spaceport is More Difficult Than Building a Rocket took place on Thursday, 28th February interviewing Frank Strang, CEO of SaxaVord Space Port. Strang trained as a Physical Education teacher at The Scottish School of Physical Education in Glasgow, Jordan Hill College.

NASA and the German Aerospace Center (DLR), who has a 20% share of the program and its costs, will conclude the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) mission, after a successful eight years of science, NASA announced. The observatory will end operations by the end of September this year.

Cubesat and small satellite solutions manufacturer and supplier GomSpace, signed a contract with spacecraft and launch vehicles communication services provider KSAT, to develop, deliver and support the company’s mission control system that will be used to operate the Arctic Weather Satellite mission, GomSpace said.

The Young Space Leaders Recognition Programme awards exceptional students and young professionals who contribute to astronautics, the IAF said. These young people share knowledge and experiences with their peers and communities.
