ESA and Axiom Space Partner for Axiom Station

The European Space Agency ESA and Axiom Space have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore collaborative opportunities in human spaceflight, science, technology, and commercialization. ESA and Axiom Space signed the MoU in Paris last week. The MoU addressed various key areas, including wider collaboration, astronaut missions, and innovation in spacesuits. Through the MoU, both organizations have expressed the intent to foster science and technology development, potentially collaborating on Axiom Space missions to the International Space Station

Airbus Selects Tesat for Quad Microwave Power Modules

TESAT has signed a contract with Airbus to supply newly designed Quad Microwave Power Modules (Quad-MPM) for OneSat. This agreement follows from the European Space Agency (ESA) and TESAT's development program to improve the functionalities and design of MPMs. This consequently laid the foundation for the final design and qualification process for the Quad-MPM.

NASA Selects Commercial SmallSat Data Acquisition Contractors

NASA has selected seven companies to provide commercial data in support of the agency’s Earth science research. The Commercial Smallsat Data Acquisition Program will acquire Earth observation data and related services from commercial sources for NASA. This fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, multiple-award contract will be effective for a period of five years with an option to extend services for an additional six months. The maximum potential value is a cumulative $476 million among all contractors NASA selected.

SatVu Releases First Light Imagery From HOTSAT-1

SatVu has released the First Light imagery from its thermal imaging satellite, HOTSAT-1, at the same time as announcing its move into commercial operations. For the Company, the milestone is a major step forward towards a new era in Earth observation and climate monitoring. SatVu launched HOTSAT-1 into orbit in June aboard a SpaceX rocket from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

Euroconsult Report Forecasts Increasing In-Flight Connectivity Demand

A Euroconsult report focusing on In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) for air travel has highlighted a second consecutive year of strong growth. This is because over 36,000 commercial and business aviation aircraft now feature onboard internet access. The new study marks the 11th edition of an annual report entitled ‘Prospects for In-Flight Entertainment & Connectivity’ and predicts this number to grow steadily over the coming years, to almost double by 2032, as part of an overall market that could see service revenues reach as high as $3.4bn.

FCC Takes First Space Debris Enforcement Action

The Federal Communication Commission (FCC)’s Enforcement Bureau has announced a settlement of its investigation into DISH for failure to properly deorbit its EchoStar-7 satellite. This marks a first in space debris enforcement by the Commission. The settlement includes an admission of liability from the company and an agreement to adhere to a compliance plan and pay a penalty of $150,000.
