Kacific migrates to AWS while new Ground Station location launches

Edinburgh / Singapore, 21 December 2021. – Kacific Broadband Satellites announced that it is migrating to Amazon Web Services (AWS) to upscale its broadband internet services for the rural regions of Southeast Asia and the Pacific. The firm aims to complete the migration of its IT infrastructure and critical business applications by 2022.

AWS enables the company to improve productivity and service quality by 50% and respond to customer needs rapidly, Kacific said. AWS will provide computing, storage and databases, while Kacific provides affordable connectivity. With the migration, the firm is taking a cloud-first approach providing accessible broadband connectivity within a speedily expanding network.

Meanwhile, AWS announced the expansion of AWS Ground Station to the South America (São Paulo) Region with establishing an antenna location in Punta Arenas, Chile. This will be the 10th AWS Ground Station connected to the AWS Global Network. 

AWS Ground Station enables the control of satellite communications, satellite data processing, and satellite operations scaling. The additional AWS Ground Station in the Southern Hemisphere will lower the latency of processing capabilities.
