Intersputnik appoints Elina Morozova Executive Director

Paris, 4 January 2021. – Elina Morozova is the new Executive Director of Intersputnik, the intergovernmental satellite telecommunications organization headquartered in Moscow.

The Executive Director is responsible for relations with member-countries, national signatories, Russian government authorities, the United Nations including the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, and the cooperation with intergovernmental and nongovernmental industry-specific organizations.

Morozova started her career at Intersputnik in 2005 in the legal service which she headed since 2010. She teaches international space law and telecommunications law at St. Petersburg State University and sits on the Board of the International Institute of Space Law.

Intersputnik was founded in 1971 and unites 26 countries with interests in satellite communication systems. It interacts with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for spectrum resources in geostationary orbital positions, and markets satellite capacity belonging to Russian Satellite Communications Company and Russia’s Gazprom Space Systems, ABS, Azerсosmos, Eutelsat, Intelsat, and other regional and national satellite telecommunications operators. Through its subsidiary Isatel, Intersputnik provides full-scale services by designing, setting up and operating satellite telecommunications networks.
