Edinburgh / London, 31 October 2022. – UK climate tech satellite company Satellite Vu, has hired industry veteran Camilla Taylor as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) ahead of their upcoming satellite launch, the company stated.
Taylor has spent the last decade in CFO roles at what3words, and at electric mobility business Saietta Group PLC. Her career began in commercial roles working for two climate start-ups, after which she became an investor at a specialist climate/clean tech fund.
Taylor has a degree in Biological Sciences from Oxford University, holds a Master’s in Environmental Economics, and an MBA from Columbia and London Business Schools.
Satellite Vu is currently developing its first two Mid Wave Infra-Red (MWIR) thermal monitoring satellites with Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL). The launch of the first spacecraft of the eight-satellite constellation is planned for May 2023 aboard SpaceX’s Falcon-9 rocket.
The constellation will collect near-real-time high-resolution climate data of both the natural and built environment. The technology will measure the urban heat island effect, assist with fire spread prediction, monitor water pollution, and help prevent greenwashing.
