Edinburgh / Halifax, 29 November 2021. – Maritime Launch Services is preparing to launch the country’s first commercial spaceport to provide satellite launch services to Canada’s growing commercial space sector. Their first payload services provider will be Nanoracks, Maritime announced.

Nova Scotia-based aerospace company, Maritime, unveiled the preliminary designs for the spaceport’s Launch Control Centre (LCC). According to that, the LCC will include a visitor and educational centre to showcase the science of space and encourage career opportunities in the sector.

Start-up Maritime is currently building a spaceport near Canso, Nova Scotia. Launch vehicles such as the Cyclone-4M will launch from here to deploy satellites into LEO, polar and sun-synchronous orbits. The spaceport will bring engineering and technical employment opportunities, infrastructure improvements, and tourism to the area, as per the company.

Earlier this year, Maritime closed a round of financing, generating US $10.5M to support the development of the new spaceport. The company also revealed plans to go public on the Canadian Securities Exchange. The spaceport is due to go live in 2023.
