Space Café WebTalk Recap: Vera Pinto On The Societal Benefits Of Space For Equality And Inclusion

Vera Pinto discussed opportunities for inclusion, diversity, and sustainability in the Space Sector in this week’s Space Cafe Web Talk, held on 19 May.

Addressing the question “How can space help inclusion and promote equality?” Pinto emphasized the societal benefits space can offer, examining the current “magnifying effect” of the global pandemic, as well as the post-pandemic future. Pinto also spoke about ways in which  space-enabled applications can assist in protecting and engaging society’s most vulnerable populations. “Let’s use space as an enabler to make our society more equal and inclusive,” Pinto encouraged, exhorting the audience to

“Think equal, innovate for inclusion.”

She also answered questions from the audience.

Vera Pinto s is Policy Coordinator and Equality Coordinator at the European Commission Directorate General for Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS).
