Ovzon, who offers a revolutionary global mobile broadband service via satellite and ultra portable man packs, and GetSAT, the manufacturer of innovative satellite terminals for aerial, maritime and land-based applications, have signed an agreement to develop SATCOM-on-the-Move (SoTM) terminals for Ovzon's global service.

Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd., a worldwide leader in satellite networking technology, solutions and services, announced on 13 May 2019 that Honeywell has selected Gilat’s Taurus IFC modem for its JetWave™ satellite communication system.

Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat), a leading global satellite operator based in the United Arab Emirates and wholly owned by Mubadala Investment Company, and Hughes Network Systems, LLC (Hughes), a subsidiary of EchoStar Corporation, announced on 6 May 2019 an agreement to enter into a joint venture to provide commercial Ka-band satellite broadband services in Brazil.

Telenor Satellite aims to satisfy rising demand from its customers for higher throughput maritime services on its THOR 7 Ka-band High Throughput Satellite (HTS) with a new collaboration with Newtec on its Newtec Dialog® platform. Newtec is a leader in the design, development and manufacture of equipment for satellite communications.

A four co-primes consortium formed by Airbus and Thales Alenia Space (both in Spain and France) has been selected by Hisdesat Servicios Estratégicos S.A. (Spanish Governmental Satellite Operator) to build two SpainSAT NG satellites. Used for governmental communications, these new generation satellites will replace the existing SpainSAT and Xtar-EUR satellites. Airbus will act as lead partner of the consortium.

Airbus has been selected by MEASAT Global Berhad (MEASAT), the leading Malaysian operator, to build MEASAT-3D, a new multimission telecommunications satellite to replace capacity and augment its core business in Malaysia, Asia, Middle East, and Africa.

Spanish satellite telecommunications operator Hispasat, has completed the successful installation of a hub at its gateway in Ixtlahuaca del Rayón (México) to manage the Smartellites™, hiSky terminals that offer mobile satellite services (MSS) and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions through Amazonas-5 satellite Ka-band, which covers 79% of the Mexican population. Both companies signed an agreement in 2017 to jointly commercialize this solution in Spain, Portugal, Latin America, and North Africa.

Avanti Communications, a leading provider of satellite data communications services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, has signed a long term bandwidth contract with the Turkish communications satellite operator Turksat.

Inmarsat is to be acquired by a private equity consortium in a U.S.$6 billion deal. The news comes after Echostar made a bid for the mobile satellite communications company just last year and after interest was also shown by Eutelsat and SoftBank.
