Israel’s Gilat To Provide Network Support To Japan’s SKY Perfect JSAT

Israel’s Gilat continues to expand its business operations and profile in the Asia-Pacific region as SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation, Japan’s largest commercial satellite communications company, has awarded Gilat a multi-million dollar contract to support its mobile and broadband networks in Japan.

“Our strategic partnership with JSAT is a testament to our joint commitment to enable new and improved services including disaster recovery, to address the challenges in Japan, for the benefit of the Japanese people,” said Abhay Kumar, Gilat’s Regional Vice President for Asia and North America. “With our multi-application single platform, JSAT will be able to support their growth plans to deliver plentiful, quality and affordable satellite-based broadband communication to their fixed and mobility customers across Japan.”

The new set of services enabled by Gilat will support JSAT’s growth plans. SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation is Asia’s largest satellite operator, with a fleet of 18 satellites, and it is Japan’s only provider of both multi-channel pay TV broadcasting and satellite communications services.

This project will Incorporate multiple applications over a single network; it is based on Gilat’s SkyEdge II-c, which provides a single platform for a variety of fixed and mobility services, offering increased levels of speeds and performance. It also incorporates redundant primary and secondary sites to deliver high availability and reliability necessary for critical needs.

Multiple use cases can also be supported, including services for government, utilities, banks and hospitals, as well as broadband connectivity for several mobility applications, including emergency response vehicles and on-the-move news and media cars.
