In this Space Café Radio – SpaceWatch.Global publisher Torsten Kriening spoke with Dr Slavka AndrejkovičováCAMões Mission Control, and Principal Investigator at the GeoBioTec research unit at the University of Aveiro, Portugal.

Torsten spoke with Slavka on the evening before the CAMões Mission analog astronauts left the cave. They have been on the mission for over 6 days already.

Slavka is a geochemical and nuclear chemical expert focused on astrogeology science. She is the Principal Investigator at the GeoBioTec research unit at the University of Aveiro, Portugal, a Special Expert Scientist for the SAM team at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, and a Collaborator at NASA Goddard Center for Astrobiology. She specializes in the geochemistry of clay minerals, environmental applications of chemically modified clay minerals, and preparation of samples analogous to Martian materials for validation of Martian sample data collected by the Curiosity rover. She is supporting CAMões in preparing geochemical protocols, mineral investigations, and microbial life.
