Qatar’s Ooredoo, Arabsat ink deal on satellite communications

Qatari telecommunications company Ooredoo and the Arab Satellite Communications Organization – Arabsat – recently inked a deal pledging each other to cooperate on satellite communications across the Middle East.

In particular, Ooredoo and Arabsat intend to develop new services and products for the rapidly growing Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) market throughout the region.

VSAT services provide Internet access via a small and highly affordable satellite dish, and are used by retailers for sales processing and transactions, data processing, and high-speed Internet access for businesses.

At the signing of the strategic partnership, Ooredoo Qatar CEO Waleed Mohamed al-Sayed said, “Ooredoo continues to grow our global network of world-class partners in every area, as we look to increase the range and diversity of ICT services that we offer.
