ESPI appoints new director as of 1st September 2022

Edinburgh, 24 May 2022. – The General Assembly of the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI) appointed Hermann Ludwig Moeller as the Director of the Institute, effective 1st September 2022, ESPI said. Mr. Moeller is succeeding Jean-Jacques Tortora, who became ESPI’s Director in June 2016.

Mr. Moeller is currently Head of Strategy, Programme and Transformation Office in the Directorate of Telecommunications and Integrated Applications at the European Space Agency (ESA). His job is to shape ESA’s role in “space for a digital connected Earth”.

Prior to this, he was Head of Institutional and European Programmes Office, and Head of GMES Space Segment Office. He also held the ESA Douglas Marsh Fellowship at NASA.

ESPI’s General Assembly extended Jean-Jacques Tortora’s mandate to continue serving as Director of the Institute until Mr. Moeller takes over.
