Former ESA chief Wörner advises Seraphim

Paris, 9 June 2021. – The former director of the European Space Agency (ESA), Jan Wörner, joins Seraphim Capital, the space investment fund, as Senior Advisor and member of the firm’s Advisory Board, Seraphim said.

Wörner was Director General of ESA from 2015 to 2021 and served as Chairman of the ESA Council from 2012 to 2014.

He “led an ambitious technology strategy for Europe to strengthen its position in an increasingly competitive global market”, Seraphim said. “He championed leveraging commercial technologies to build lower cost and higher performance satellites for communications, earth observation, navigation and science at ESA”.

He “has also been a strong advocate of space sustainability, ie active space debris removal and ensuring all its missions are environmentally neutral”, the fund said.
