NASA invests $105 million in 127 high-tech hot shops

Paris, 18 May 2021. – NASA invests more than $100 million in more than 100 American small high-tech businesses to “help them move their innovations to market”, the U.S. space agency said.

Under its Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, NASA grants 140 new awards to 127 small businesses located across 34 states and Washington, D.C., the agency said. The investment totals $105 million.

NASA’s small business program is dedicated to finding the most useful technologies for the agency and the commercial marketplace, NASA said, sourcing those innovations from a diverse group of entrepreneurs with different backgrounds and perspectives.

The companies chosen for the new funding include 33 women-owned, minority-owned, and veteran-owned small businesses, the agency said.
