Ibadan, 7 October 2026. – Dawn Aerospace is expanding into Germany with plans to establish Dawn Aerospace Deutschland GmbH, as the company seeks to support the country’s growing defense and national security space sectors. The expansion intends to provide a localized supply of Dawn’s flight-proven propulsion systems while supporting the development of future space transportation capabilities.

The move comes after Germany’s Defence Minister Boris Pistorius stated in 2025 that the country would invest €35 billion in space-related defense capabilities through 2030. According to the company, the rapid expansion of Germany’s space capabilities will require resilient, sovereign supply chains backed by reliable, high-volume production of critical components such as propulsion systems.

To lead the expansion, Dawn Aerospace is recruiting a Head of Defence Sales for Germany and plans to open a physical office in either Bremen or Düsseldorf after the appointment. The German operation will focus on translating Dawn’s technical capabilities into cost-effective mission proposals and navigating multi-stakeholder sovereign space capability developments.

Targeting German propulsion demand

Dawn argues that Germany urgently needs propulsion systems for new surveillance and communication constellations, but that existing domestic suppliers lack the production scale required for high-volume defense procurement. The company therefore plans to address this demand with its flight-proven propulsion systems and existing manufacturing pipeline while working with defense primes and government partners on sovereign space capabilities.

“Germany has made it clear that building sovereign capabilities in space is an urgent national priority,” said Jeroen Wink, Chief Revenue Officer at Dawn Aerospace. “Our commercial rollout is designed to engage directly with strategic stakeholders, including the German Space Command and defense primes, ensuring they have the secure, localized supply chain required to scale European resilience in space.”

Scale and flight heritage for German clients

More than 50 of Dawn’s non-toxic propulsion systems are currently operating in orbit, with the company’s manufacturing pipeline producing dozens of turnkey systems annually. Its propulsion systems are designed for satellite applications including orbital maneuvering and station-keeping, giving Dawn an established flight heritage as it expands into the German market.

Furthermore, the company is developing capabilities for on-orbit refueling and reusability, alongside its proven manufacturing pipeline which meets the low-risk-tolerance demands of national security missions. These technologies are intended to extend the operational lives of high-value sovereign spacecraft and give operators greater freedom to perform orbital maneuvers without being constrained as quickly by finite onboard propellant.

“Defense and national security missions cannot afford the risk or development timelines of unproven technology,” added Stefan Powell, CEO of Dawn Aerospace. “Government partners require scale and flight heritage. With our extensive track record and high-cadence manufacturing, Dawn is uniquely positioned to deliver exactly what the German defense sector needs to move fast and succeed.”
