The IAC 2024 in Milan highlighted lunar exploration, with Rolls Royce’s Jake Thompson discussing nuclear power micro reactors for space. Dr Emma Gatti expressed concerns about the feasibility of a water-based lunar economy without solid data on moon water, noting the cancellation of the Viper mission. Torsten Kriening mentioned Brain.Space’s technology for mental state measurement and control of robots. Nick Shave from Astroscale discussed the UK’s collaboration with the UK Space Agency on active debris removal and the importance of preparing spacecraft for servicing. Emma looked forward to sessions on climate, Mars exploration, and the global space economy, and noted Axiom’s new Prada-designed spacesuit.
