Ex-ESA chief Wörner co-leads German acatech academy

Paris, 24 March 2021. – The former Director-General of the European Space Agency (ESA), Jan Wörner, has been elected co-president of acatech, Germany’s academy of technical sciences.

Wörner will lead the academy together with its current president Karl-Heinz Streibich, acatech said.

Wörner left ESA in February when his five-year mandate at the helm of the European Space Agency ended.

He was head of the German aerospace center DLR from 2007 to 2015, and president of the renowned technical university of Darmstadt before.
