UK’s Goonhilly Looks To Expand Business In Australia And Asia-Pacific

Industry veteran Bob Gough has joined the team at Goonhilly Earth Station as the company bids to expand its operations and develop new business opportunities across Australia and the Asia-Pacific. Gough will oversee commercial expansion across the region and will grow Goonhilly’s customer base in this new market, one that is experiencing rapid growth and that has just seen the establishment of the Australian Space Agency.

Goonhilly offers connectivity to businesses seeking international expansion. It provides access to all global satellite constellations, interconnected with bundles of subsea cables delivering worldwide high-capacity terrestrial reach, and local ultrafast fibre broadband. As a result, Goonhilly can serve as the gateway to the world and to space for regional satellite operators, broadcasters, and enterprises based in the fast-growing Asia-Pacific markets.

With the £24 million support of UK billionaire, Peter Hargreaves, Goonhilly has positioned itself as a facilitator of NewSpace and is investing in infrastructure and facilitates in both the U.S. and Australia in order to support deep space projects.

Dr. Bob Gough BSc, PhD, CEng, MIET, MAIAA has spent over 35 years in the space and satellite communications industry. His experience includes working on major projects in co-operation with international space agencies including the European Space Agency (ESA). Additionally, he has founded several successful technology companies.
