
Ibadan, 17 February 2025. – Astroscale France, a subsidiary of Astroscale, is appointing Pierre Omaly, former technical leader at CNES (Centre National d’Études Spatiales), as Senior Technical Expert. Pierre will bring over 20 years of expertise in space technology and innovation, particularly in the development of groundbreaking solutions to protect space and ensure its sustainability.
In his new role at Astroscale, Pierre will contribute to advancing the company’s mission by leveraging his deep technical knowledge to tackle space debris and ensure the safety of in-orbit operations. Likewise, as Senior Technical Expert, Pierre will play a pivotal role across all technical aspects of Astroscale’s work, from concept development to the implementation of advanced technologies.
Pierre’s most recent position at CNES was as T4SC Project Manager, where he led the development of key technologies for improving space sustainability. Some of these include close-proximity rendezvous for docking systems and a detumbling system that prevents satellites from spinning uncontrollably at the end of their lifecycle. These advancements directly support the goal of reducing the complexity of space debris removal.
