Departure or standstill – Why 2023 will be decisive for European space

Matthias is Managing Director of the German NewSpace Initiative and Head of International Cooperation, Security Policy, Raw Materials and Space at the Federation of German Industries (BDI). The cross-sector and cross-industry initiative was founded at the end of 2021. It forms a unique alliance of space and non-space companies, associations, industrial corporations and the digital economy. The majority of members are NewSpace start-ups.

Matthias studied business administration and international relations in Germany, France and the US. He also holds an Executive MBA from the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT). He is a reserve officer in the German Armed Forces and voluntarily participated in an assignment abroad in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2006.

The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions in dialogue with Matthias Wachter.
