Edinburgh / Paris, 14 September 2022. – Information and intelligence platform provider NorthStar Earth & Space (NorthStar), and satellite operator Telespazio, a joint venture between Leonardo (67%) and Thales (33%), have entered into a Distribution and Partnership Agreement (D&PA) to strengthen cooperation on delivering solutions to greatly enhance European Space Domain Awareness initiatives, the companies said.

According to the agreement, Telespazio will become NorthStar’s exclusive distributor and solutions provider for European Ministries of Defence, Governments, agencies and institutions. Telespazio will leverage NorthStar’s enhanced SSA capabilities to serve customers across Europe, the company stated.

NorthStar is due to launch its first commercial space-based Space Situational Awareness (SSA) system in 2023. The constellation will monitor all near-Earth orbits simultaneously to improve space object tracking.

Telespazio is aiming to provide customized, high performance end-to-end solutions by integrating NorthStar’s information services with its secure infrastructure. Telespazio has previously invested in NorthStar’s initial funding round and also supported the constellation’s de-risking and study phases.
