UK Defence contracts UK-Australian collaboration to enhance capabilities

Edinburgh, 10 May 2022. – UK-based space situational awareness specialists Northern Space and Security Limited (NORSS), and Australian Nominal Systems, have been awarded a contract to develop ARTSIM a spacecraft and missions simulator solution to support the UK Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) future satellite operational plans, NORSS said. to provide a modular, data representative satellite simulation architecture. The US $ 1 million contract will create a minimum of 13 jobs over the one and a half year contract duration.

The software-based solution will support design activities, testing and verification, commissioning, spacecraft and mission operation as well as disposal. The ARTSIM project will integrate simulation with high-quality visualisations to provide a modular, data representative satellite simulation architecture.

NORSS offers training, operational support, technology research and development to government, industry, and defence for mission success. The company also provides bespoke sensor platforms to the UK. 

Nominal Systems provides satellite digital engineering softwares. ARTSIM will be built on the Nominal simulation platform to boost the UK MoD’s space programmes.
