Southern Launch hires personnel prior to upcoming rocket launches

Edinburgh, 28 April 2022. – Southern Launch has appointed Rob Baker to fulfil the newly created General Manager – Launch & Test role, the company said. Baker has 21 years of experience working for the Defence Science and Technology Group. 

His expertise lies in weapons modelling and simulation, probabilistic range safety methodology and implementation, and active protection systems for armoured vehicles, Southern Launch said. Rob has provided safety advice for rocket and missile testing activities, and advised the Special Operations Command. He has also lead research programs aimed at the protection of Australian soldiers and vehicles. 

Baker has embraced his role with a passion for leadership, building strong, diverse teams and guiding people to success. Australia’s only licenced spaceport Southern Launch, has recently hired Farisha Jamal as Avionics Engineer and Peter Bailey as a Trade Assistant.

The company has open positions in their engineering and projects teams departments as well and is currently recruiting personnel.
