Ibadan, 10 September 2026. – Marble Imaging is collaborating with Safran Reosc, a subsidiary of Safran Electronics & Defense, to integrate the latter’s SEEING 230 optical imager aboard Marble Sat 1, the German Earth-observation company’s maiden satellite mission, which is targeting launch in the first quarter of 2027.
The announcement adds another Franco-German dimension to the growing number of European space collaborations unveiled at the International Space Summit in Paris, following OroraTech’s and Eutelsat’s announcement.
Safran Reosc brings French expertise in high-performance space optics, while Marble Imaging contributes its German Earth-observation satellite platform and plans for a dedicated commercial imaging constellation, creating an industrial partnership between established French space capabilities and an emerging German NewSpace company.
Safran optics join Marble Imaging’s satellite architecture
Beyond Marble Sat 1, the partnership brings Safran Reosc’s optical technology into Marble Imaging’s planned satellite architecture with the integration of Safran Reosc’s new 50 cm GSD optical payload across the next generation of Marble Imaging satellites. This technology collaboration is intended to support the planned expansion of Marble Imaging’s constellation, which the company is targeting to reach 30 satellites by 2030.
The contract therefore highlights Safran Reosc’s important role in the planned scale-up of Marble Imaging’s future satellite constellation, while supporting the latter’s ambition to deliver high-resolution visible and near-infrared imagery to commercial, civil and defense users.
French office expands Marble Imaging’s European footprint
Meanwhile, the agreement comes as Marble Imaging plans to establish a local presence in France, bringing the German Earth-observation company closer to its French customers and partners. The planned office would also support Marble Imaging’s broader expansion strategy as it develops relationships across the French space ecosystem and prepares to scale its satellite constellation.
Beyond its maiden mission and planned constellation expansion, the agreement and planned French office could strengthen Marble Imaging’s position within the French space ecosystem. The company already works with several French partners across its space-segment supply chain and plans to deepen its commitments in France over the coming years, giving the collaboration with Safran Reosc a broader industrial context as Marble Imaging builds towards larger-scale satellite production.
