September saw a bounce back for the global space tech VC industry, with over $1.5b invested in 39 deals.

China’s dominance in the leaderboard returned this month with three of the top four investments being megarounds for Chinese startups: Beijing Galaxy Power Aerospace Technology ($337m Series D), Geespace ($281m Series C), and Beijing Interstallar Glory Space Technology ($98m Series D+) led the way, joined by the USA’s Apex ($200m Series D) to round out the top 4.

New Zealand’s Starboard Maritime Intelligence put New Zealand on the global map for spacetech VC funding for 2025, raising $13m in a Series A to scale its AI-powered platform for maritime intelligence. That’s the first investment for the New Zealand spacetech ecosystem since Zenno’s November 2024 fundraise.

At $1.5b, September is by far the highest volume month of the year, putting 2025 solidly on track to exceed 2024’s total.

Estimating the size of the Spacetech industry:

SpaceWatch.Global estimates that so far in 2025, 263 companies have raised $7.2b. of venture equity funding.

Benchmarking our estimate:

The Dealroom/ESA Space Tech Dashboard is a great way to benchmark our estimate. Generally, the dashboard has a more expansive definition of spacetech (including, for example, terrestrial drones, ground sensors, or eVTOL vehicles).

Dealroom estimates that in September 2025, 33 space-tech companies raised a total of approx. $1.48b. As of publication, the dashboard also includes 4 additional deals, worth $49m, which we classify as either not space-tech, or not venture capital. The VentureSpace list this month includes three companies not listed on Dealroom’s dashboard at time of publication: Icarus, SpaceFields, and Beijing Traverser Manned Space Technology Co., Ltd.
