April 2025 saw over $630m invested in 31 deals – making the two-month period of March-April 2025 one of the most active 60 day periods in spacetech VC since at least 2023.

Notable this month is the continued emphasis on dual-use or purely defense-tech. Most of the largest raises this month came from companies with an expressed interest in serving the defense sector, including Apex, True Anomaly, Albedo, Wayren, and Dark, amongst others.

Companies from the United States took the lion’s share of the investment this month, with the top six raises alone bringing in over 80% of April’s total.

With three strong $600m+ months to start the year, 2025 looks poised to be a strong year for spacetech investment.

Estimating the size of the Spacetech industry

SpaceWatch.Global estimates that so far in 2025, 107 companies have raised $2.8b. of venture equity funding.

Benchmarking our estimate

The Dealroom/ESA Space Tech Dashboard is a great way to benchmark our estimate. Generally, the dashboard has a more expansive definition of spacetech (including, for example, terrestrial drones, ground sensors, or eVTOL vehicles).

Dealroom estimates that in April 2025, 23 space-tech companies raised a total of approx. $614.55m. As of publication, the dashboard also includes 9 additional deals, worth $2.7m, which we classify as either not space-tech, or not venture capital. The VentureSpace list this month includes eight companies not listed on Dealroom’s dashboard at time of publication: LEAP, Turion Space, Munich Quantum Instruments, Forecast, Exobiosphere, InfinAstro, SatLeo, and Optimized Electrotech.
