Lagos, 20 December 2024. – The Consortium for Execution of Rendezvous and Servicing Operations (CONFERS) recently held its 7th Global Satellite Servicing Forum & Exhibition (GSSF&E) in Arlington, Virginia. The GSSF&E is the space sector’s premier in-space infrastructure and operations event.
The 195 registrants from 15 countries and 102 organizations spent two days listening to global experts speak on topics including In-space Servicing, Assembly and Manufacturing (ISAM)-centric presentations covering insurance and risk management, RPO safety, spectrum allocation, and many more. The discussions spanned 31 general session keynotes, panels, a fireside chat and interactive Space Infrastructure Games challenging ISAM’s technology and business aspects.
CONFERS President Joerg Kreisel (Chairman & Co-Founder of iBOSS), in his welcoming remarks, set the stage for a two-day examination of the current and future capabilities from the ISAM supply side and presented the big picture in the stakeholder context with select way forward pointers.
The Consortium also recognized the valuable volunteer contributions made by three individuals from CONFERS member companies. Consequently, Ronald J. Birk (The Aerospace Corporation), Chris Blackerby (Astroscale Holdings), and Victor Nifo (MDA Space) received Volunteer Service Recognition Awards for serving as Co-Chair of CONFERS Technical Committee for four years; for three years former CONFERS President; and as Chair of CONFERS Power and Data Interfaces Task Force, respectively.
In the new year, CONFERS Policy Committee is planning to educate the incoming Administration and Congress about CONFERS and the satellite services industry with in-person events on Capitol Hill. The Consortium is approaching 100 member organizations that are strong contributors to its committees and task forces. Overall, CONFERS will continue to expand the scope of its activities and services to the global ISAM community and intensify “CONFERSations” among stakeholders internationally.
