Ibadan, 24 October 2024. – The Council of Eurospace has announced the appointment of Marco Fuchs as President, succeeding Jean-Marc Nasr. Eurospace is the professional association of the European space industry, which promotes the ambitions and concerns of the sector to European institutional players (ESA, European Union etc.)
Following his appointment, Marco Fuchs, CEO of OHB SE and now also President of Eurospace, commented “In the past years, Eurospace has been well-organized and run efficiently; I would like to thank my predecessors, André-Hubert Roussel for structuring and modernizing the organization, and
Jean-Marc Nasr for raising the association’s profile as an indispensable interlocutor for European institutions active in space policy. We are facing significant challenges in the space industry today, and I greatly appreciate how vocal and strong Jean-Marc has been in addressing these issues.”
The new president also added, “I am honoured and proud to serve as President, and I will prioritize ensuring that space is considered an indispensable element of any defence-related program funded by the EU. On the ESA side, I will support ESA transformation and, in particular, help the ESA devise measures to enhance the European industry’s competitiveness and profitability and ensure sustainable supply chains in Europe.”
Similarly, Jean-Marc Nasr, former President, remarked: “We are going through a turbulent time for space in Europe. This makes it an appropriate moment for a transition in leadership. Today, we have over 70 member companies from all over Europe, with more to come, highlighting the dynamism of our sector. With great emotion, I hand over my final responsibilities to my successor Marco Fuchs and express my warmest thanks to the Eurospace team and its general secretary Olivier Lemaitre for their excellent contribution to our industry.”
