Canada has joined the EU's research and innovation program, Horizon Europe, and will work jointly on large-scale projects tackling Europe's biggest challenges. Iliana Ivanova, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, and Francois-Philippe Champagne, Canadian Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, signed the agreement. Meanwhile, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the conclusion of negotiations for Canada's association with Pillar II of Horizon Europe at the EU-Canada Summit on 24 November 2023.
