Maxar Intelligence Appoints Dan Smoot as Chief Executive Officer

Ibadan, 31 October 2023. – Maxar Intelligence has appointed Dan Smoot as its new CEO, effective November 6, 2023, completing its investment in the business’s senior leadership talent phase. Daniel Jablonsky, who has been serving as interim CEO of Maxar Intelligence, will subsequently transition to the Board of Directors.

Smoot is a technology executive with over 30 years of management experience, including senior executive positions at Salesforce, Cisco and VMWare. Most recently, he served as CEO of Riverbed Technology, where he led the IT company’s transformation from a hardware provider to a software-focused business that today serves national security agencies and 95% of the Fortune 100.

Speaking on his appointment, Bob Hitt, Chair of the Board of Directors, said, “Dan Smoot is a proven leader who brings a commercial approach to delivering innovative technology solutions for national security and other Government missions, and his relentless focus on execution and operational excellence makes him well-suited to lead Maxar Intelligence in the next phase of its growth.”

Likewise, Dan Smoot added, “It’s a privilege to serve as CEO, and I’m looking forward to joining the company at this critical stage of its growth.” The new CEO also added, “It is an exciting time for the Maxar Intelligence team to deliver similar impact through innovative digital solutions that help customers unlock new value from the industry’s most advanced Earth intelligence data.”

As a result of the appointment, Smoot will lead a new Maxar Intelligence management team with extensive experience in the national security, space and technology sectors. The Company selected the new team to grow its position as “the world leader in secure, precise geospatial intelligence with new mission-focused solutions and digital platforms that help customers generate more insights from our best-in-class data faster.”
