Paris, 21 June 2021. – The laser communication startup Mynaric has opened a new facility for the serial production of laser communication equipment for the aerospace sector, the company said.
The newly opened production facility is located in the vicinity of Mynaric’s headquarters at the special research airport Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich, Germany, the company listed at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange said.
Mynaric targets a production rate of 2,000 units per for its new 1,600m² facilities, “substantially increasing previously announced targeted production capacity”, it said. The new facility will create around 200 jobs, Mynaric said.
“With the opening of the new production facility Mynaric continues to execute its strategy to build industrial capabilities required for the large volume deployment of laser communication products in proliferated aerospace networks”, the company, which started as a spin-off from the German Aerospace Center in 2009, said.
“Mynaric follows a unique approach to supply chain and procurement focused on the reduction of critical supplier dependencies and risks associated to production ramp-up while maintaining its competitive advantages and securing its market position.”
