GomSpace and Fugro collaborate on position and timing accuracy solution

GomSpace and Fugro are collaborating to offer world-class position and timing accuracy on nanosatellites. SpaceStar is a next-generation technology for the provision of high-accuracy real-time navigation services in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), leveraging Fugro expertise in GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) augmentation services for professional applications. SpaceStar enables sub-decimetre absolute positioning and nanosecond-level timing, onboard a LEO satellite and in real-time without additional ground-infrastructure for the satellite operator.

SpaceStar is based upon Fugro’s proven Precise Point Positioning (PPP) technique, including multi-constellation and multi-frequency GNSS technology with real-time GNSS orbit/clock corrections delivered via L-band signal from geostationary (GEO) satellites. The system has been tailored for offshore applications where a nearby GNSS station is not always readily available.

G4 offers seamless integration of GPS, GL ONASS, Galileo and BeiDou in the navigation solution, allowing the user to obtain a reliable and accurate position even in challenging environments, especially in presence of interference, scintillation or partial sky visibility.
