The UAE Space Agency has launched ten initiatives that include work programmes and activities seeking to develop and enhance happiness, positivity, and job loyalty in the UAE space sector.

The initiatives, announced during a workshop for the Agency’s employees in Abu Dhabi, will focus on enhancing the institutional environment and achieving happiness and positivity for all members of the Agency. This falls in line with the goals of the national programme for happiness and positivity and within the frameworks of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on making happiness a lifestyle in the UAE and the higher goal and purpose of the government’s work.

His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Ahbabi, Director General of the UAE Space Agency, said “These initiatives reflect the directives of the UAE government in supporting national talents and building national capacities, via education, training and exposure to knowledge and experience.”

“The space sector plays a vital role in sustainable development and the happiness of people on our planet, and we have made it our goal to make humanity happier through our ambitious projects. We work on achieving this with science and through building a culture of innovation, particularly among young generations. Our projects will be a source of inspiration and national pride as well as happiness for all the people in the UAE and the region,” Al Ahbabi added.

In the same context, Nasser Al Rashidi, Executive Director for Happiness and Positivity at the UAE Space Agency said: “We at the UAE Space Agency have established the happiness and positivity council and we work to transform these values into a lifestyle for employees in the space sector. We believe in continuous training and development and in building capability, skills and positive values, which reflects positively on the employees’ lives so that they can contribute to building a prosperous country and a sustainable future. This is something which requires uniting efforts and creating more initiatives that serve this purpose.”

The initiatives included a number of developmental, interactive, and motivational activities for the Agency’s employees that would achieve happiness and positivity, including the “Ambition Initiative” that includes creating positive job labels and active talent management systems.

The Agency also launched the “You Deserve More” initiative that activates thank-you and appreciation cards within the rewards and incentives system, in addition to “Tell Us About You” and “Success Story” initiatives which involve meetings with the Agency’s leadership and prominent figures to talk about their experience and the secret to their professional success.

The “Giving” initiative involves internal and external volunteer activities, while the “Your Health is Important” initiative seeks to establish a healthy and active lifestyle among space sector employees. This will be done by encouraging physical tests and establishing a sports committee to supervise organizing sports activities and annual competitions, in addition to encouraging healthy eating habits.

These initiatives are part of a series of administrative and regulatory measures adopted by the UAE Space Agency since the beginning of this year to serve as a model for achieving happiness and positivity and their impact on the work environment and productivity.
