Israel’s Gilat appoints new CEO

Gilat Satellite Networks announced on March 17 the appointment of Yona Ovadia as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective from March 31.

Ovadia will replace current interim CEO Dov Baharav, who will stay on at Gilat as Chairman of its board of directors. Baharav took over as interim CEO in March 2015 after the departure of previous Gilat CEO Erez Antebi.

Prior to joining Gilat in April 2015, Ovadia spent 30 years with Amdocs, the US-based company that develops consumer experience software and solutions for satellite communications and telecoms companies.

In announcing the appointment of Ovadia as the new CEO, Baharav said: “We are very excited by the appointment of Ovadia as Gilat’s next CEO. Ovadia, as a business leader with a strong track record of delivering results, will be taking Gilat forward to materialise its promising strategic directions. Ovadia and I have worked closely together for many years. His experience and capabilities will be crucial to Gilat’s continued long-term profitable growth, building and expanding Gilat’s strategic business pillars.”

Gilat Satellite Networks, based in the city of Petah Tikva in Israel, is a provider of end-to-end satellite communications solutions, specialising in fixed and on-the-move communications for both corporate and government clients around the world.
