The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has selected 14 commercial providers for a new Space-Based Environmental Monitoring Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract vehicle as part of efforts to expand U.S. weather forecasting capabilities.
The move comes as the agency expands its procurement of commercial satellite data for weather forecasting and space-weather monitoring, giving privately-owned and -generated environmental observations a broader role within the U.S. operational observing architecture.
