In this Space Cafe Clip, Torsten Kriening, Publisher of SpaceWatch.Global, catches up with Daniel Seidel, Co-founder and CEO of LiveEO, at DTM (Deep Tech Momentum) 2026 in Berlin, just hours after another major announcement.
The Big Announcement
LiveEO secured €6.6 million in federal and Berlin state funding for the Twinspector mission under the GRW program (Gemeinschaftsaufgabe “Verbesserung der regionalen Wirtschaftsstruktur”)-a long-established initiative supporting structurally weaker regions in Germany. The LiveEO office in Berlin is located in former East Germany and qualifies for this complementary European program designed to strengthen economies in less industrially developed regions. As Daniel explains: “When you launch the highest performing German constellation, it comes with a cost. Every governmental funding helps us achieve that.”
Combined with their recent €28M Series B2 and additional debt financing, the first Twinspector satellite pair is now fully financed.
DTM 2026 – A Different Kind of Conference
This isn’t a space conference, it’s a deep tech conference. And that makes it powerful for the space sector. DTM brings together investors across deep tech with six specific sectors, including a dedicated space track.
What’s New This Year: Space and defense are converging at DTM. Daniel attended a closed roundtable this morning with participants including members of the Ukraine armed forces, something he hasn’t seen before in Berlin.
“Tech sector, public sector, and defense industry are growing closer together. The space track room was full, a lot of interested people. The momentum is exciting.”
The Berlin Space Scene
Strong presence from German scaleups: ICEYE (Germany), Constellr, OHB, Isar Aerospace, all on stage. As Daniel notes: “The baseline, the foundation is there. Now we have the responsibility to communicate this to a wider ecosystem.”
The Founder Focus
DTM specifically demanded founders on stage, not chiefs of staff or executives. This signals investor seriousness and validates the entrepreneurial momentum in European deep tech.
