The International Astronautical Federation (IAF) has announced the results of the abstract selection for the 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2026), to be held from 5-9 October in Antalya, Türkiye.

Ibadan, 27 April 2026. – The International Astronautical Federation (IAF) has announced the results of the abstract selection for the 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2026), to be held from 5-9 October in Antalya, Türkiye.

Themed, “The World Needs More Space”, IAC 2026 is uniting global voices on an unprecedented scale, with record-breaking abstracts results and country participation driving this powerful vision forward.

The IAF received a remarkable 8330 abstracts from 108 countries, an all-time record both in numbers and in geographic reach in IAC history. Over the course of the IAF Spring Meetings last march, the International Program Committee (IPC) reviewed the abstracts and selected 4619 of them for IAC 2026, comprising 4077 accepted and 542 strong back-ups. This represents a highly competitive acceptance rate of 55.45%.

Türkiye, the Host Country, led the selection with 674 accepted abstracts, followed by the United States (383), China (334), Italy (330), Azerbaijan (211), Germany (202), the United Kingdom (183), Japan (172), Russian Federation (123), France (109), India and Canada ex-aequo (87).

Each contributor brings its own perspective to the discussion at IAC2026, enriching a vital thread to a shared framework of solutions addressing both every day and complex global space challenges.

All accepted presenters have subsequently been matched across a record-breaking 204 technical sessions, plus daily large-scale Interactive Presentations Sessions. More so, over 61% of selected presentations will be featured in the Oral format, with 38% to be delivered as Interactive Presentations.
