Lagos, 19 December 2024. – Reflex Aerospace, an Alpine Space Ventures Portfolio company, has announced the shipment of its first commercial satellite, SIGI, to Vandenburg Space Force Base on December 11th, 2024.
This mission to deliver a payload to orbit for Media Broadcast Satellite (MBS) has culminated in the rapid deployment of a customized 109 kg satellite and the realization of Reflex Aerospace’s promise to redefine standards in custom satellite delivery. Furthermore, this marks a significant milestone for Reflex Aerospace, just over three years after the company’s inception.
The project timeline—from order placement in June 2023 to flight readiness in August 2024—demonstrates Reflex’s commitment to speed and quality. Likewise, this milestone is particularly noteworthy as it completes the company’s first of four signed commercial contracts, an unprecedented level of early commercial validation in the NewSpace industry.
The satellite will tentatively launch on the Transporter-12 Rideshare mission aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle from Vandenberg Space Force Base no earlier than January 2025.
Celebrating the milestone, Walter Ballheimer, CEO and Co-founder of Reflex Aerospace, said, “We are happy by the successful shipment of SIGI, which reflects our core mission—delivering high-performance, rapidly deployable satellite solutions. There is a growing need for high-performance satellites for various challenging use cases. And we are ready to meet it by mass customizing our products.”
Based in Munich and Berlin, Reflex Aerospace enables lightning-fast innovation in space by designing and manufacturing 100 to 500 kg payload-specific, dual-use satellite platforms within 12 months. Reflex further intends to redefine satellite development by blending verticalized in-house design and manufacturing, end-to-end support, secure-by-design modules, hardware-accelerated encryption, and the highest-performing core avionics in its class.
